It is so easy to get stuck in a rut some nights after finishing work, especially as there aren’t many options available right now! I think a lot of us have realised how much we have taken for granted small things that we loved to do such as trips to the pub and chats over a drink with some nibbles or heading out for lunch at your favourite spot.
In the currently climate a lot of us have turned to stay at home date nights, which is something we did for Valentine’s Day this year. April is always a busy month for us and we celebrate our birthdays with a 2 week gap in between and whilst we may not be able to go for a weekend away in Paris as planned, we can try to re-create a special date night at home.
Make a plan
No matter what you’re thinking of doing, it is important to plan ahead. Are you going to go with a theme? Maybe you want to recreate your first date? Or just have a cozy movie night? For Gavin and I, the most important thing would probably be the food! We got a lovely takeaway from a local Bib Gourmand restaurant and dressed up, listening to some of our favourite music in the background. After that, we got on our PJ’s and I created the ultimate movie night in!
Create the perfect atmosphere
Just because you’re stuck at home, it does not mean that you cannot create a cozy and romantic atmosphere. If you’re looking for a cozy night in, why not recreate your bedroom in your living room? Light some of your favourite candles or add some fairy lights, perhaps you want to make a snack station stocked with all your favourite indulgent treats. Maybe you prefer some tipples for a cocktail station? You may be missing your favourite bartender, but someone may have to step into their shoes for the night! Play on your senses. Think smell, sight, touch…
Whatever you do, make sure you have fun! Make memories and live in the moment. Put away your phone, grab a bottle of wine and relax. Enjoy your night!
